About Me

Miriam March at her Long-Arm Quilting MachineWelcome to Whispering Pines Quilt Studio, located in beautiful Rock Creek, British Columbia, offering longarm machine quilting products and services. My name is Miriam March and I am the owner and operator of Whispering Pines Quilt Studio.

The name of my studio comes from the lovely yellow pine trees that surround our house and studio site, and the welcome breeze blowing through them, especially at the end of a hot summer day.

I have been quilting since 1992, and have tried a wide variety of techniques offered by quilting, from the traditional piecing to paper piecing, fused applique, and needle-turn applique, among others; from contemporary to traditional quilting. I have taken many workshops to learn new techniques and have a passion for quilting with others who share my excitement at what is possible.

As a member of the local fibre arts guild I have participated in a number of challenges intended to push participants’ creative boundaries. I have also moved into the realm of Art Quilting – one of a kind quilts that use fabric and other embellishments to create unique artistic representation of a chosen subject. Art quilts can be abstract, or more literally representative of the subject. I have tried both styles, and find that I prefer the more pictorial, literal representations.

Opening Whispering Pines Quilt Studio and starting my longarm quilting business and working from home is a dream come true!
